Getting Started / Administrator Layout

The Administrator application allows viewing and editing NovaStar database contents and is the recommended tool for performing NovaStar configuration and data maintenance.

The top bar, from left to right, includes the TriLynx icon, the organization icon, the Administrator title, which includes the current hostname, the date and time when data was last read, and a user avatar which displays the current user name and is a dropdown menu for logging in and accessing documentation after logging in.

Logging in

Login is not required and will allow viewing data plots and tables. However logging in provides the Administrator's fullest functionality to users with login credentials. To login, click the user avatar in the upper right corner and Login from the dropdown menu, as shown in the following figure.

After selecting Login from the menu, the following login screen will display.

Enter User name and Password credentials. The password edit field will hide the value being entered but can be viewed by toggling the eye image on the right side. The Administrator will save the login and password using cookies when the Save password checkbox is clicked. The user name and password will automatically be filled in upon subsequent uses of Administrator.

The application menu is located on the left side of the screen as visible in the images below.

The features offered in the menu change according to whether a user is logged in or not, as well the role of the user logged in.

List Functionality

Many data types are displayed using a similar format and utilize similar types of component. Many Administrator data pages display a list (table) of data objects to navigate data viewing and editing. Understanding the features of the list display will greatly improve a user’s effectiveness and efficiency. See List Functionality for more details in navigating those pages.
